Cuchulainn CC Mizen
to Malin Challenge
September 3rd - 5th 2010 |
|
Cyclists
from the Dundalk are looking to raise money for a charity by cycling the
length of Ireland from Mizen Head to Malin Head in 3 days.
The team of 40 cyclists will saddle up for the, three-day, 662km
journey on the 3rd of September. The event is being organised by
Cuchulainn Cycling Club as part of their 75th anniversary celebrations.
The proceeds of funds raised will be donated to three local charities;
Dundalk Simon Community, Down Syndrome Ireland Louth & Meath branch
and the Irish Cancer Society.
The event was launched on Thursday last by representative of the
charities as part of National Bike Week at Felda Health Fitness. At the
launch, organisers Kevin Hamill and Padraig Kelly said the team was
pumped up for the challenge. The riders will be of mixed abilities
between a touring, intermediate and fast group all looking to achieve
personal goals and accomplishments while raising funds for charity. All
costs are borne by each participant so not only will there be blood,
sweat and tears in preparing for this challenge there is a financial
commitment too.
The adventure will commence in West Cork at Mizen Head, cycling to
Limerick on the first day, then travelling up through the midlands and
staying in Cavan on the second day and finally travelling from Cavan to
Derry and on to Malin Head in Donegal on the final day. |
